As leaders in automotive applications for ASICs SWINDON have developed projects for many of the world’s top marques, often with the specific aim of making it easier for the driver to see and act on information coming from the car. In doing so this gives a better appreciation of the car itself and the marque.
With our partnership approach we help develop new applications which will further increase the confidence of the driver and the information available.
With the ever increasing awareness of personal safety and protection within vehicles, SWINDON’s customer wanted to provide a market leading solution for Assisted Braking Systems (ABS) in trucks that provided the driver with unprecedented levels of safety and reliability. Constant product development and state of the art innovation has meant that SWINDON’s solution has provided the market with many years of reliable, safety driven products and solutions.
SWINDON Silicon Systems was the preferred partner of choice due to its many years experience of designing and supplying innovative ASIC solutions.
SWINDON’s ABD / EBS ECU ASIC is designed to be the interface between the wheel sensors and the controlling functions of the braking system.
The sensor is a magnetic reluctance type operating on a 100 toothed tone ring. Wheel sizes outside the nominal range are compensated by using 80 or 120 tooth tone rings.
The frequency range of the system is between 5 – 1500Hz.
The ASIC odometer function counts the wheel speed pulses and transmits this data down a 2 wire serial bus to the micro. Corrections for wheel speed sizes are carried out via software.
The system must run on stoplight power ie the module will only be powered when the brakes are applied.
